Hydra Head Records Reissues S/T & “Things Viral” From KHANATE On Vinyl

Preorders are open for NYC “extreme doom” group Khanate’s first 2 vinyl album reissues, including bonus material and LPs of previously unreleased recordings. The self-titled debut was originally released via Southern Lord Records in 2001, and quickly gained a cult status among an audience across many genres. Followed by the 2003 album “Things Viral”, Khanate’s style of extreme, yet restrained composition and brutal execution has often been aped, although never successfully. These high quality vinyl reissues have been carefully remastered by James Plotkin and contain the complete recordings for each session. Packaging has also been given an upgrade by Stephen O’Malley, both albums being presented in sturdy Stoughton-style gatefold sleeves.

A deluxe option includes 1 of 2 extremely limited white-label LPs of live radio performances from the earliest years of the band’s existence. Various color vinyl options are also available, as well as a minimalist t-shirt design.

Regurgitation Complete Recordings ‘86-87 Available for Pre-order from FOAD Records

Regurgitation Album ArtOn March 25, FOAD Records will begin shipping Regurgitation Complete Recordings 1986/1987. The album was mastered for vinyl by James Plotkin.

Regurgitation Complete Recordings 1986/1987 includes two demos Organic Backwash (1986) and Bathrooms Rule (1987), the track “Pesticide” from Speed Metal Hell Vol. 3 plus assorted soundboard recordings, gatefold sleeve liner notes from Plotkin and Jon “Metalion“ Kristiansen of Slayer Mag, and a fanzine-style booklet containing tape artworks, flyers, zine excerpts and rare photos.

From the liner notes by Plotkin:

These two demos are basically the start of my career as a musician/engineer/producer. In 1986, I was 15 years old and completely obsessed with thrash metal and anything underground. I had been playing guitar for two or three years, so the obvious thing at that point was to start a band. Finding like-minded musicians in the suburbs of New Jersey wasn’t easy in those days and I wasn’t even old enough to drive, so I got a few friends from school to enlist for the cause.

The LP is available in two versions: a die-hard version on “acid reflux” yellow and green splatter vinyl (limited to 100 copies) and a black vinyl version (limited to 400 copies).

Pre-order Regurgitation via FOAD Records.

The 1,000 copy release is presented on 180 gram tri-color vinyl (red, green, and black) with a 425gsm gatefold sleeve jacket with insert and obi strip.

Of the music, Death Waltz founder Spencer Hickman writes:

It’s the kind of electronic album that not only appeals to synths heads but rock fans, too, as it has an energy that makes it sound like a live band is playing. Obvious musical cornerstones include 80s synth pop, early Daft Punk and the Ed Banger label as much as Halloween or Blade Runner.
